Maybe choosing fear is an active attack on love.
Maybe every fearful thought you justify about anyone or any situation is more than just defending your position.
Maybe every fearful thought you hold in this world means you lose awareness of love’s presence in your mind.
“If I hold grievances I am attacking love, and therefore attacking my Self. My Self thus becomes alien to me.”
A Course in Miracles, Workwook Lesson 84.3.
We ususally think the consequences of choice are limited to the physical or emotional level because we believe we are bodies living in this world.
Imagine for a moment you’re not a body.
Imagine you are mind or spirit.
What does holding a fearful thought in your mind do to your experience of love?
Love is gone from your awareness.
Fear is an active attack on love – not just its opposite.
Love is excluded from fear. Only fear, pain, death, and the illusion of love can survive your choice to be something you are not.
Fear means the loss of your awareness of love and of your innocence.
Fear makes love unconscious and then you think you are all alone.
Your choice for fear isn’t neutral, it’s more than just the opposite of love.
It’s important to remember the consequences of choice on all levels.
If you think it’s no big deal to hold onto grievances and resentments then you’re not aware that you’re also attacking love in your mind.
You’re hurting yourself more than you realise.
If you see the cost is enormous, then you’ll be motivated to stop choosing fear.
The cost of fear is not just the pain of separating yourself from others but you also turn your back on love and lose your identity.
Choosing Love makes you aware that Love is what you are.
