It seems normal to see others as separate and different from you.
You relate to people depending on the judgments and perception you hold in about them.
Your evaluation of others doesn’t seem to have any effect on you.
But is that true?
Having separate bodies seems to be enough evidence that you’re separate from others.
So why would you exercise any discipline over what you think about anyone?
Maybe you think it’s enough being careful about what you say and do?
For example, you’ve decided to be careful with what you say around a particular person. You don’t want to upset them. You think being careful or “considerate” is a way of getting along, keeping the peace and surviving in a relationship. But you’re judging them as vulnerable and different from you.
Being careful around others is a dis-service to everyone involved if it’s a way to keep your judgments and only change your behaviour.
You can’t see the real cost of your judgments until you’re open to consider this: the judgments you hold about anyone are what you also hold against yourself.
You treat others in the same way as you see yourself.
You see others as vulnerable and easily upset only because you believe you’re vulnerable and easily upset.
Your motivation for not judging others is not because you want to be nice to them and not upset them. It’s just that you can’t judge others and not suffer yourself. You’re not separate beings.
And it’s not just the obvious criticisms that you need to be aware of: you’re lazy, unreliable, arrogant, dislikeable, inconsiderate, hurtful and so on.
You want to be aware when you are evaluating others as separate bodies and not spiritual beings that are connected to you.
You don’t want to limit other people by seeing them as separate bodies that have different interests and needs because you’re only going to see yourself as a body with separated needs.
Others will become more to you than physical beings, when you let love show you, who you really are in truth.
When you’re ready to remember the love that you are, you’ll be shown how to judge others.
The only judgment involved is the Holy Spirit’s one division into two categories; one of love, and the other the call for love.
