“Que sera, sera
Whatever will be, will be
The future’s not ours to see”
I came home a few weeks ago singing the lyrics from the chorus of Doris Day’s song “Que sera, sera.” I had heard the lyrics on the car radio. The children laughed – they don’t usually hear me sing.
The lyrics could be about giving up thinking we have control of the future and just trusting that everything is going to work out just fine.
When we worry about the future we’re thinking that our conflicted past will be repeated in an uncertain future. Any anxiety about the future is a reflection of our present choice to be separate from love. In fact, when we have any concern about the future, it’s a sign that we want to have our miserable past repeated. Any suggestion that the future will not be a continuation of the past, no matter how miserable the past was, can be very unsettling!
When we’re enjoying the present moment we know what the future will be like. The script is already written and that script is one of joy, connection and growing trust. We know we will remember love – there is no choice about that because love is our Identity. We only have a choice about when we’ll remember love. It’s not even that remembering love is a future event. It’s a present memory.
When we don’t like the idea that our future will just happen, without our direction, it’s helpful to realise what’s happening inside. The part of us who wants to be in control and determine what will happen is reacting to the quiet knowing of Spirit. Spirit knows we will wake up to the call of love and everything is and will be perfect. How annoying for the part of us that wants to remain separate!
“Que sera, sera
What will be, will be”
Thank you for sharing this point of light, this point of presence…
Through the energy of your words I’d just back to the present moment.
Please, keep sharing…
Keep playing…
