It’s amazing how I can read A Course in Miracles and suddenly get an insight that I did not see before.
In Lesson 39 you are asked:
… with closed eyes, search out your unloving thoughts in whatever form they appear;
uneasiness, depression, anger, fear, worry, attack, insecurity and so on. Whatever form
they take, they are unloving and therefore fearful. And so it is from them that you need
to be saved.
My unloving thoughts about___are keeping me in hell
My holiness is my salvation.
The exercise is to repeat to yourself the last two lines, filling in the blank with a person, event or other specific situation. Then affirm “My holiness is my salvation.”
I laughed to myself when I read it because it was such a refreshing change from the idea of dealing with unloving thoughts by making an effort to think positive thoughts or by finding a way to make a situation change or solve a problem.
I just need to accept my holiness.
Accept who I Am in truth.
If I truly let the recognition that “I am holy” sink in, my love will affect everyone and all situations.
Acceptance requires openness not effort.
Your holiness, then, can remove all pain, can end all sorrow, and can solve all problems. It can do so in connection with yourself and with anyone else. It is equal in its power to help anyone because it is equal in its power to save anyone. (Lesson 38)
Your holiness saves because stepping into it fully means there are no problems and no people and situations who need to change. Then, on some level, everyone is reminded of their own holiness even if they are not consciously aware of it in that moment.
What a nice surprise – your holiness settles all problems!
