The cost of pretending is feeling dead inside – while honesty leads to clarity and aliveness.
If my feelings of anxiety and annoyance mean that I am not a spiritual person, I will hide them. If getting upset with circumstances and others people means I am weak and vulnerable, I will be tempted to pretend everything is OK when it isn’t.
But maybe my “negative” feelings and reactions mean something different, something important, something about my inner choice? What if they are simply telling me I am disconnected from love (Spirit). How important is that? How valuable and insightful my “negative” feelings and reactions have become when I don’t make them into a judgement about me!
It’s an important first step in the journey to love to have a little willingness to connect with my Guide and see my wrong inner choice without beating up on myself. With my Teacher beside me I can learn what it means to make choose love.
So I can practice being gentle on myself the next time I am reactive, anxious and annoyed. I can practice not making my wrong decision into a big deal, feeling guilty about it or taking it seriously and hiding it. I can learn from my inner Guide to see that my feelings and reactions are useful information about my inner choice and not a judgement on who I am.
