Is the reality you created real?
Online Cambridge Dictionaries defines reality:
“the state of things as they are, rather than as they are imagined to be”
But what if, what you imagine, becomes real for you? Then you wouldn’t know the difference between what’s real and what’s imagined! You would treat the imaginary as real.
Have you created an imaginary reality?
The film “A Beautiful Mind” explores this confusion of what is imagined with what is real. The main character Nash, played by Russell Crowe, suffers from schizophrenia and sees things that are not there. Towards the end of the film Nash says:
“I still see things that are not here. I just choose not to acknowledge them. Like a diet of the mind, I just choose not to indulge certain appetites; like my appetite for patterns; perhaps my appetite to imagine and to dream.”
Nash never recovers completely, but becomes able to discern, or ask help to know, the difference between what is real and what is imagined.
The purpose of a miracle in ‘A Course in Miracles’ (ACIM) is to show the difference between what is real and what is imagined. What is real, according to ACIM, is that you were created as a loving being. You did not create yourself and so in reality you cannot create anything that does not express love. So if you are experiencing anything other than love, it’s unreal. But if you create something that does not exist, like fear, lack or limitation then you’ll believe in it and make it real for you. Then a miracle will be needed to show you what is true and what is untrue.
“Belief produces the acceptance of existence. That is why you can believe what no one else thinks is true. It is true for you because it was made by you.
All aspects of fear are untrue because they do not exist at the creative level, and therefore do not exist at all.
Text Chapter 1. Section VI. paragraph 4 .
In “A Beautiful Mind” Nash’s wife Alicia (Jennifer Connelly) becomes the expression of the miracle when she agrees to help him distinguish between what is real and what is imagined.
If you choose the miracle it will show you a joyful world that reflects the love and the innocence that you are in truth. A world without the fear you thought was real.
