You’re setting yourself up for a sense of failure if your goal
is to be peaceful or loving. You’ll be tempted to think you’re
reaching your goal when you aren’t by hiding or denying your
irritation, your anger and your unloving thoughts.
What is a realistic goal?
Choosing miracles is a realistic goal.
You need a miracle when you lose your connection with love,
when you have fear thoughts or just feel the slightest bit irritated.
Achieving this goal requires you to be fully aware of all your negative feelings.
Choosing a miracle is asking for help. The miracle guides you to the
awareness that your inner choice is the cause of your unhappy feelings.
Join with your inner miracle teacher and look at your “failures”
with compassion and a gentle smile that says:
“My choice for fear is not big deal. It’s not sinful. I don’t
have to feel guilty about it. It’s just a silly choice that makes no sense.”
Then your sense of separation and pain melts away because you have looked at fear
with love beside you.
Choosing miracles is the way to experience peace.
Most of all it keeps you honest. Then you don’t have to believe
that being spiritual means you can’t get upset.
