The Miracle Choice™ Game – a non-dual teacher
Recently I played the game with a small group of people I would call my “non-dual friends”. These are people I’ve known for years as we’ve hung around the same teachers. Teachings. Similar message and in essence the same as what is taught in A Course in Miracles (ACIM), but perhaps with a slightly different language.
It’s funny that I have been so attracted to work with the Miracle Choice™ game even though I’m not a student of ACIM. I would say my path has been most influenced by non-dual teachers. I could make a long list of people I’ve sat with most notably and frequently Byron Katie and The Work and in the last couple of years Adyashanti.
And if you aren’t familiar with the expression of “non-duality” I mean Advaita Vendanta, Zen, Awakening, self- realization, enlightenment teachings… really whatever language works for you.
The players were not playing with any particular intentions that would make this game a non-dual event. There was no intention to “Be awakened to the ground of all being” or anything like that! It was the usual thread of personal issues, business/ worklife challenges, dealing with shame and the struggle to choose love.
Yet, it was through this very ordinary human playing field, that I saw so clearly that the Miracle Choice™ game can be exactly like sitting with a non-dual teacher. I saw this is exactly why I so love this game. When sitting with Byron Katie, or any of the other Advaita teachers, Zen masters, or awakened beings that I’ve sat with, I remember who I really am. I am reminded and given a powerful experience of source. The awakened teacher holds awareness with an ease that seems to allow all those around them to also enter into the unified field of love. This unified field is what is called the “Real World” in ACIM and in the Miracle Choice™ game.
I love the Real World. There I am shown the only thing that does not ever change is essence. There I rest in a deep connection to all that is. There the powerful realization of The Truth can be experienced. And it is here now. Now all stories of a small separate self fall away. Now it is seen that I AM. Which is why I like hanging out with non-dual teachers – and why I have a group of like-minded friends. To connect me back to the Real World.
So there we were playing Miracle Choice™, a small group of people, a bunch of non-dualists (if that’s a good word for us), all getting to have a powerful experience of The Truth, connecting with consciousness and remembering who we really are. And I saw how similar it is to what happens when sitting with a teacher. Pure moments of enlightenment came through the simplicity and direct experience of truth that happens in a Miracle Choice™ game.
And playing the Miracle Choice™ game is helpful for someone like me who tends to fall in the trap of only seeing divinity outside of myself, in one of my teachers. Very clearly I can see god “out there” in that “special” person, but then I do not include myself in that image. I fail to recognize that mine are the eyes of god.
So playing the game had the same energy of sitting with a teacher, just like sitting in satsang but what was important was that this experience arose and was generated from within myself. It was me and the game. Me and the other players. There was no need for a teacher. The game reminded us all that “I am my own teacher”.
