Lately I’ve been asking myself why do I believe that I have so many things to do?
Lots of things!
Things to think about, to do, to decide, reply this, post that, blah, blah, blah.
Things related to work, family, well-being, house, next holidays, bills, what to eat and so on.
Sometimes I get tired even before I start all this.
But what am I tired of if I haven’t started anything yet?
I’m tired of my thoughts, that’s all.
I get exhausted hearing myself tell me what I “have to” or “should” do and, the lists of bad consequences that I imagine will happen if I don’t complete my task.
Incredible how the mind can sound so convincing.
Last week I took the advantage of my return from Brazil and the excuse (to myself) of the tiredness from the trip and the change of time zone, to give myself a break and question all these obligations and consequences.
“What if I don’t do it now?”
“What if I never do it?”
“Will something really important not happen?”
“If I fail, will I not be who I am any more?”
If the answer is uncomfortable this pressure can only come from the ego.
When my essence answers the voice is calm and serene, nothing like the hammering and demands from before:
“You don’t have to do anything. Life continues to happen naturally. The world continues to exist, you continue to be a divine and perfect expression and, without pressure, everything will flow more peacefully and beautifully in your life and you will give your gift to the world in a whole and complete way.”
Do you want anything more?
How about then listing all the things that you think you “have to” or “should” do this week and noticing which voice is behind each one of them?
