It’s tempting to think that life will be better in the future!
I’ve just stopped a job that I’ve done for years and now I’ll have more time to do what I feel guided to do with my days and weeks.
It’s tempting to think I’ll be happier in the future.
And yet I remember in the past that when I got what I desired, the happiness was short lived. We’ve all experienced that. Yet we’re tempted to think: “this time will be different?”
A career change, a new partner, an opportunity or a change of location cannot make the difference we want when we think something is wrong with our present moment.
If we’re looking forward to a future that will make us happy and we’re not accepting what is now, we’re practising a way of being unsatisfied in the future. If we practise a perception of lack now we’ll bring that practised habit with us into the next moment. We’re going to create a future experience that’s no different from the past because our limited pattern of thinking is stilll with us and will cause discontentment.
The career change, the new partner, the opportunity realised and the change of location can be all satisfying when they come as a result of being happy now.
You can never be happy in the future!
Do this to be happy now:
Connect to what is happening, feel your feelings without judgement.
Accept this moment is a perfect creation.
See the pain that comes from doing things for a future outcome or achievement.
Don’t follow any desires unless they come from the love that you feel now.
Stop thinking your needs can only be satisfied by some future provision.
Know you can response in a loving way to what is happening in this moment.
Be present to the creation that’s happening now.
Realise you are already fulfilled and accomplished.
